He saw the building change, he thought he was going to lose his job, he met the love of his life, and now he is the Material Handler Supervisor.

Mel Royer heard about an open Material Handler position at Trion Industries and on July 13th, 1992, Royer walked into Trion and after being trained was handed the keys to a forklift. He said, “It took me about a week to get used to the rear wheel driving, but no accidents.”

Since that day, Mel has done it all. He started driving on a forklift, moved to driving a tractor trailer, then back on a forklift as supervisor.

In the past 25 years Royer has learned through many different aspect of Trion. After working at Trion for five years, a miscalculation by a former engineer led to a machine, which Mel was carrying, to fall off his lift. Royer said, “That was a bad day, thankfully nobody got hurt and that’s all that matters.” Royer continued, “Trion was very supportive and understanding with the mishap and we were able to fix the machine.”

With everything Mel has experienced at Trion, the one moment Mel will always cherish is the moment he met Doreen. In four short years Doreen would become more than Mel’s co-worker, she would become his wife.

Today, Mel and Doreen still work at Trion as they raise their family of four kids and countless memories.
